Thank the Lord for his protection!

I'd like to tell everyone how I brushed elbows with Death, got his autograph, and came back to tell of it. But that would be stretching the truth a bit and I would NEVER do that!!
Yeah, yeah. I hear all the laughter. Ok, so maybe I've been known to embellish a bit for the listener's pleasure. :^)

As it was, it could have been much worse and God really did have His hand on me the entire time. As I was going down I-76 in the middle of Hurricane Ivan last Friday night (technically Saturday morning), a huge branch fell off a tree right ahead of me! I found out later that it was about a foot across at the base of the limb. I first saw it fallin about 50 feet ahead of me, and by the time it landed it was around 30 feet ahead. I hit my brakes and swerved toward the left lane. Thankfully didn't slide in the downpour. When I went through, it was on it's second bounce up and so the main parts of the branch didn't hit my hood at all, just my windshield and came down on top of my car. It smashed up my windshield pretty well, but didn't break through, ripped off one of my wipers, knocked off my driver's side rearview mirror, and crunched in the front part of the top of my car.

I ended up with glass shards on me, but unhurt. Which was a minor miracle as I didn't have a shirt on (I was hot). I eventually drove it home since that was so much cheaper than having it towed. I didn't even get a ticket!! Whoo hoo!
